Maui Airplane Tours
Fixed-wing airplane tours offer a different perspective than helicopters. They cover more ground, fly at higher altitudes, and often cost less. If you want to see multiple islands in a single flight, an airplane tour is the way to go.
What Airplane Tours Cover
Most Maui airplane tours fly over Haleakala, the West Maui Mountains, and along the coastline. Many also loop around Molokai to see the world's tallest sea cliffs (up to 3,000 feet) and the Kalaupapa Peninsula. Some routes include Lanai.
Airplane vs. Helicopter
Helicopters hover and fly low — better for waterfalls and tight valleys. Airplanes fly higher and faster, covering more territory. Airplanes are also quieter and smoother. If you want dramatic close-up views, choose a helicopter. If you want a broader scenic overview or are on a tighter budget, an airplane tour works well.
Tour Options
Tours typically run 60-90 minutes. Prices range from $150-$300 per person. Small prop planes (Cessna-style) seat 3-8 passengers, and every seat has a window. Morning flights offer the clearest visibility.
