The Maui Arts & Cultural Center calendar covers larger productions in Kahului. ProArts Playhouse offers small-room shows in Kīhei, while the Slack Key Show runs a recurring Hawaiian-music night in Nāpili.
Once a calendar works, choose the kind of evening you want. Many Maui luaus pair dinner with a staged cultural program, while sunset dinner and cocktail cruises vary by operator, route, and inclusions. Read the specific listing before booking. A ticketed show, luau, and cruise can fill the same open night, but they ask for different plans.
Kahului: Maui Arts & Cultural Center
Maui Arts & Cultural Center: The MACC calendar reaches well beyond concerts. Programming ranges from comedy to hula. Check the individual event page for its venue and entry details. I’d look here first if your day already puts you in Central Maui or Upcountry.
Kīhei: ProArts Playhouse
ProArts Playhouse: ProArts is an active small theater and listening-room venue in Kīhei. Its live calendar moves between theater and listening-room music, with other events mixed in. The venue is in Azeka Plaza-Makai in Kīhei. I’d pair it with a Kīhei or Wailea dinner rather than make it part of a long drive across Maui.
Nāpili: Slack Key Show
Slack Key Show: The current schedule lists Wednesday shows at Napili Kai Beach Resort, with doors at 5:45 p.m. and the performance from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Slack-key guitar is the focus, with storytelling, hula, and a changing guest musician. Recheck the date before paying because a recurring schedule can still change.
Kīhei: Magic in Paradise
Magic in Paradise: ProArts currently promotes Magic in Paradise with Maui magician David Kuraya, a former Warren & Annabelle’s headliner. Use the ProArts schedule rather than an old listing; dates and performers are calendar-driven.
Choose the Evening Format
I use this as a planning test. A ticketed show lets you choose dinner separately, but you need to manage the reservation and arrival time yourself. A luau folds the meal into the program. A dinner or cocktail cruise puts the evening outdoors and on the water, where route and departure point shape the experience as much as the food does.
Read seating and cancellation terms before you pay. If you have only one open Maui night, choose the format whose central purpose you would regret missing.
Booking Tips
- Check the calendar before the restaurant. Show nights move, and a venue homepage can outlive the event you found in an old search result.
- Group the evening by region. MACC pairs with Central Maui. ProArts works with a Kīhei or Wailea dinner. I’d keep the Slack Key Show night near Nāpili in West Maui.
- Read the ticket page, not just the event title. Confirm the venue and doors time, then read the policies and inclusions.
- Keep the drive home realistic. A late show is a poor time to discover that the restaurant and venue are far from your lodging.
- Save the venue before checkout. Add the event and nearby dinner plan to My Trip; the map makes a long drive across Maui obvious.
