The Hawaiʻi Department of Health’s ocean-safety guidance says to know your health and fitness limits and swim with a buddy. Obey posted warnings and favor lifeguarded beaches. We make the call simply: if conditions or comfort levels are uncertain, enjoy the beach from dry sand and move the swim to a safer place or day.
