Travel insurance is a contract, not a general promise that a ruined trip will be made whole. The right question is not whether Hawaiʻi is “worth insuring.” It is how much money you could lose, which events the policy covers, and what protection you already have.
Start with a worksheet. List each prepaid cost, mark it refundable or nonrefundable on your travel dates, and record the last date you can cancel without penalty. That total is the exposure you are deciding whether to transfer.
