This beach really has a lot to offer. Windsurfing, lounging, protected swimming, snorkeling and a lesson in ancient Hawaiian salt production - hence the beach's name. There is a natural salt pond near the beach that is used by descendants of Hawaiians to collect salt. Make sure not to poke around there without permission.

Salt Pond Beach Park remains closed. Kauaʻi County’s September 16 recovery update keeps this beach park closed due to storm damage. The partial reopening of other County parks does not reopen Salt Pond or resume camping here. Choose another confirmed-open destination and wait for an explicit reopening notice.

There are restrooms, showers and a shady picnic area with grills here. Camping is allowed with a permit. To reach Salt Pond Beach take Highway 50 west from Kalaheo toward Hanapepe. Just past mile marker 17, turn left on Lele and right on Lokokai Road to the beach park.
