The date and the 5–9 p.m. block party are confirmed on the City and County of Honolulu's official event page. The final 2026 parade time and route are not. Make the location decision now, then recheck the city page before assigning an arrival time.

Honolulu's Department of Parks and Recreation lists the opening-night block party from 5 to 9 p.m. on streets around Kapolei Hale. The city describes dozens of vendors, live music, local food, and a holiday car showcase. Admission is free.

The holiday parade is also part of opening night. The city's page describes a procession of decorated vehicles, floats, and walking groups. It labels its 5:30 p.m. start and route from Kapolei High School to Kamaʻaha Avenue as historical. Do not treat an older start time or route as the final 2026 plan.

A 50-foot holiday tree and community tree displays are planned at Kapolei Hale, with more entertainment in the open-air courtyard. The city also lists a volunteer cleanup at Kapolei Hale from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 29.

Choose Kapolei City Lights on November 28 if your room and daytime plans are in Ko Olina, Kapolei, or West Oʻahu. It keeps the evening on the side of the island you are already using.

Choose Honolulu City Lights if you are based in Waikīkī and its current schedule fits your trip. Check current city announcements before building an evening around Honolulu Hale festivities or the Public Workers' Electric Light Parade. The current Kapolei page describes one opening-night celebration and does not yet publish later public display hours.

If your trip spans both weekends, attending both is possible. They should not fill two otherwise similar evenings unless holiday events are a priority. Use one as the anchor and preserve the other night for a different part of Oʻahu.

The Waikīkī Holiday Parade is scheduled for Friday, November 27, the night before Kapolei City Lights, according to the parade organizer. Visitors staying in West Oʻahu should not assume two consecutive parade nights will feel effortless. Choose both only if the events matter more than keeping a flexible holiday-weekend schedule.

Save the event and its source page in My Trip, then keep the rest of Saturday close to your lodging. A late city update is easier to absorb than a day built around a long cross-island sequence.
