New Hawaii flights and schedule changes arrive for fall and winter 2026 across Oʻahu, Maui, and Hawaiʻi Island. Some add nonstop choices. Others change frequency, timing, or aircraft on routes that already exist.

• October 3: Alaska adds HNL–OGG 737 flights, and Hawaiian/Alaska Neighbor Island check-in and bag drop move to a 50-minute cutoff. See the September 18 airline announcement.
• November 9: Delta changes service between the mainland and Honolulu and Kona under its official winter schedule.
• November: Hawaiian's planned seasonal Auckland return will not resume. Alaska and Hawaiian outlined that change in their July network update.
• December 17: Boise–Honolulu and Chicago–Maui service begin.
• December 19: Spokane–Honolulu and Minneapolis–Maui service begins, while Delta's planned Boston–Honolulu return starts.

Choose the island and arrival date first, then compare the nonstop against a one-stop backup on the same dates. A route that begins December 19 cannot help with a December 18 hotel check-in.

Alaska will add three daily Honolulu (HNL)–Kahului (OGG) round trips on Alaska-branded Boeing 737-800s from October 3, 2026. Hawaiian's 717s will continue serving Neighbor Island routes. The airline's September 18 announcement confirms the start date.

From October 3, Hawaiian/Alaska Neighbor Island passengers must complete check-in and checked-bag drop at least 50 minutes before departure, up from 30 minutes. That is a cutoff, not an airport-arrival target. Move rental-car return and the trip to the airport earlier; allow additional time for security and boarding.

At Honolulu, 717 and 737 Neighbor Island passengers use Terminal 1, Lobby 3. At Kahului, passengers taking a 737 to Honolulu use Alaska's counters beside Hawaiian's. Hawaiian's international check-in and bag drop at Honolulu move to Terminal 2, Lobby 4 on October 3.

Detroit to Honolulu becomes daily

Delta says its Detroit (DTW)–Honolulu (HNL) service expands from three flights a week to daily service on November 9. The route uses an Airbus A330-300, according to Delta's official winter schedule announcement. This is an expansion, not a brand-new city pair, but daily frequency removes much of the calendar gymnastics for Michigan and connecting Midwest travelers.

Salt Lake City to Kona begins daily service

Delta's Salt Lake City (SLC)–Kona (KOA) service begins daily operation on November 9 aboard a Boeing 767-300, according to its official winter schedule announcement. This is an earlier seasonal start, not a new city pair. It gives Hawaiʻi Island travelers a direct Kona arrival instead of an interisland connection through Honolulu.

Los Angeles to Kona gets a widebody

Delta says its Los Angeles (LAX)–Kona route moves to a Boeing 767-300 for the winter season beginning November 9, as outlined in its official winter schedule announcement. That is an aircraft change, not a new route. Treat the plane type as the current plan and recheck your reservation before travel because airlines can swap equipment.

One winter route moved in the other direction. Alaska and Hawaiian say Hawaiian's three-times-weekly Honolulu (HNL)–Auckland (AKL) seasonal service will not resume in November 2026.

If you were waiting for Hawaiian's seasonal nonstop, rebuild that part of the trip now rather than assuming last winter's pattern will repeat. Search the exact dates through the airline or its partners, compare the connection and stopover terms, and do not book a Honolulu hotel around the discontinued service.

Boise to Honolulu starts daily service

Alaska's new Boise (BOI)–Honolulu (HNL) nonstop begins December 17, 2026, and is scheduled to run daily through March 21, 2027, according to Alaska and Hawaiian's network update. Boise travelers headed to a Neighbor Island still need a connection after Honolulu, so compare the through-itinerary rather than only the first flight.

Chicago to Maui starts daily service

American's new Chicago (ORD)–Kahului (OGG) nonstop begins December 17, 2026, and is scheduled to operate daily through March 27, 2027, on a Boeing 787-8, according to American's official route announcement (PDF). It lands on Maui rather than Oʻahu, so Maui-only travelers can compare it with one-stop itineraries without adding an interisland flight. Check both travel dates in the live booking calendar before building a trip around the seasonal nonstop.

Spokane to Honolulu starts weekly service

Alaska's new Spokane (GEG)–Honolulu (HNL) route begins December 19, 2026, and is scheduled once a week, on Saturdays, through April 17, 2027, according to Alaska and Hawaiian's network update. One weekly flight is useful only when both ends of the trip line up. Price the return before you let the outbound nonstop choose the vacation dates.

Minneapolis–Saint Paul to Maui is new

Delta will launch nonstop Minneapolis–Saint Paul (MSP)–Maui (OGG) service on December 19. The airline lists daily flights during peak holiday and spring-break periods, then five flights a week during the core winter season. Delta's announcement gives the launch date and broad frequency pattern; use Delta's live booking calendar for the exact outbound and return days. The announced aircraft is an Airbus A330-300.

Boston to Honolulu returns

Delta's official winter announcement lists Boston (BOS)–Honolulu (HNL) service returning December 19 on an Airbus A330-300. Treat that announcement as the planned start, then confirm that both travel dates are offered before committing to hotel or rental-car dates.

The frequency distinction matters. Alaska schedules Spokane–Honolulu once weekly from the start. Delta describes Minneapolis–Maui as daily during peak holiday and spring-break periods and five flights weekly during the core winter season. Search the exact outbound and return days before building a hotel stay around any of these routes.

Hawaiian plans to increase Las Vegas (LAS)–Honolulu (HNL) service from three daily flights to four during peak winter and spring periods, according to Alaska and Hawaiian's network update. The announcement does not give one season-long date range for that extra frequency, so use the live booking calendar for your travel days.

More seats can improve schedule choice, but they do not promise a lower fare. Compare the fourth flight for timing and total trip cost, then keep a three-flight-day backup in mind if the seasonal frequency changes.

Treat a route announcement like a trailhead sign: it points in the right direction, but the ticketed itinerary gives the actual turns. Before payment, read the operating carrier, flight number, departure and arrival dates, connection time, and the fare's baggage and seat terms. Match the flight's arrival date to your hotel reservation.

Save the confirmation and fare rules with your trip file. Read the operating and marketing carrier names on the booking, then review each segment's terminal and connection time. Check the airline's booking tool for your exact itinerary; do not assume an announcement's seasonal pattern applies to every date.
