The January golf calendar has changed, but professional golf has not left Hawaiʻi. The Sony event returns on PGA TOUR Champions, while two March LPGA event weeks put the Big Island and Maui on the 2027 calendar. For a trip built around watching golf, choose the event and island first, then confirm what you can actually attend.
What changed for January
The PGA TOUR published its 2027 schedule through the TOUR Championship on August 26, 2026. That schedule contains no Hawaiʻi stops. The Sentry is listed at Torrey Pines in San Diego for January 25–30, rather than at Kapalua.
The July 1 Sony announcement confirms the Sony Championship Hawaii at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu on PGA TOUR Champions. Event week is January 11–16, 2027; pro-ams are January 12–13, and competition rounds run January 14–16. Its future on that tour is confirmed.

March brings two LPGA weeks on different islands
The LPGA’s October 7 schedule announcement lists these 2027 event weeks:
- March 8–14: Nanea Cup at Nanea Golf Club in Kailua-Kona, on the Big Island.
- March 15–21: LOTTE Championship at The Plantation Course at Kapalua, on Maui.
The LPGA confirmed the LOTTE move on October 5. The event moves from Hoakalei to Kapalua starting in 2027. An older LOTTE plan built around Oʻahu lodging puts you on the wrong island.

An event week is not a spectator schedule. Seven listed days do not establish seven days of public admission. These LPGA announcements alone do not settle spectator access, ticket terms, competition days, parking or shuttles. In particular, a Nanea Cup listing does not establish visitor admission to Nanea Golf Club.
Following both March events would mean planning for two islands. Use our interisland flight guide to work through the transfer before chaining stays together. Keep that plan flexible until the organizer’s attendance details support it.
Four checks before committing to the trip
- Name the event. Sony Championship Hawaii is PGA TOUR Champions; Nanea Cup and LOTTE are LPGA events.
- Match the island. Sony means Oʻahu, Nanea means the Big Island, and LOTTE means Maui.
- Confirm attendance. Check admission and the actual days you can attend with the organizer.
- Read your travel terms. Check cancellation deadlines before committing to flights and lodging around the event.
Playing golf is a separate booking

Hosting a tournament does not establish that you can book a tee time there. Confirm course access and your own reservation separately.
