Longs Drugs is the name most visitors will notice. CVS says Longs Drugs is owned and operated by CVS Pharmacy, so a Longs counter is the natural first call for many CVS customers. It is still a pharmacy transaction, not an automatic refill. The pharmacist must decide what can be transferred or filled under the prescription, applicable law, available stock, and your health plan.

A routine refill with valid refills remaining may be straightforward. Your pharmacist and prescriber make that call; a travel article cannot.

Controlled prescriptions deserve an early call. The Drug Enforcement Administration permits a one-time transfer of an eligible electronic Schedule II-V prescription between DEA-registered retail pharmacies at the patient’s request, but only when state and other applicable law allow it. The prescription must stay electronic, and two licensed pharmacists must communicate the transfer. That rule is narrower than “any pharmacy can move any prescription.” Call both the Hawaii pharmacy and the prescriber rather than building the day around an assumed transfer.
