Maui Events in November 2026

Events & Festivals on the island of Maui

Hawaii Guide founders.

November on Maui is two different trips wearing the same month.
Early November is quiet and local. The Made in Maui County Festival anchors it. Thanksgiving week flips: the Maui Invitational drops a national basketball crowd into Lahaina, holiday travel fills flights and rental cars, and West Maui rooms get scarce fast. Pick the week that matches the trip you want, then confirm each organizer’s current schedule before you book anything nonrefundable.

2026 Events and Festivities

Hawaiian Airlines Made in Maui County Festival

The Made in Maui County Festival is my favorite early-November stop on Maui. The official site lists the 13th annual event for November 6–7, 2026, at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. Vendor and food-truck applications are closed and under review, per the organizer’s site — check the official page closer to the date for the final vendor lineup.

Why I’d Go

This is the Maui weekend to build around if you want locally made gifts before the holiday rush. Maui County makers, farmers, food producers, and small businesses fill one venue, so you can shop directly instead of chasing a dozen scattered stops. Our Made in Maui County Festival guide covers what to buy first and how to pace the day.

Insider Tips

  • Stay in Kahului, Wailuku, Kīhei, or Wailea if the festival is the main event. Those bases keep the drive to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center simple.
  • Arrive early on the public festival day. Limited-run food, small-batch gifts, and easier parking all reward showing up first.
  • Bring a tote. Leave room in the suitcase. This is one of the better weekends of the year for gifts actually made on island.

Veterans Day at Haleakalā National Park

Veterans Day lands on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, per the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. If you are trying to pair the holiday with a Haleakalā summit day, start with Haleakalā’s own NPS fees page instead of assuming a federal holiday changes the sunrise rules. The park says fee-free entrance days do not include sunrise reservations or admittance between 3 and 7 a.m. No sunrise reservation means no summit at sunrise.

Why I’d Go

If a Haleakalā day is already on your Maui itinerary, this is a useful date to snap it to. Fair warning: fee-free days show up on local calendars too, so the summit road tends to feel busier than a normal Wednesday. For sunrise specifically, treat the reservation and the fee-free day as two separate problems — check our Haleakalā sunrise reservation guide and Recreation.gov before assuming availability.

Insider Tips

  • Reserve the sunrise entry first. Think about the fee-free day second.
  • Not attached to sunrise? A midmorning or sunset visit is less brittle and still delivers the summit drive.
  • Layers. November summit weather has nothing in common with beach-level Maui.

Maui Invitational

The Maui Invitational is the month’s biggest visitor-facing event. The 2026 tournament runs November 23–25 at Lahaina Civic Center — Monday through Wednesday of Thanksgiving week. That timing is the entire travel story: a national basketball crowd, holiday visitors, and West Maui’s tight lodging supply all pile up on the same days.

Why I’d Go

For a college basketball fan, this is one of the rare Hawaiʻi events where the sport itself justifies the trip. If I’m not going to the games, my move is the opposite: don’t accidentally book West Maui that week, or lock in lodging and dinner reservations well ahead of a normal November trip. Our Maui Invitational visitor guide covers tickets, lodging, shuttles, and respectful West Maui travel.

Insider Tips

  • Book West Maui lodging before flights if the tournament is why you are coming. Rooms are the tighter constraint.
  • Want a normal Maui vacation? Aim for early November, not Thanksgiving week.
  • Build slack around Lahaina Civic Center. Game-day traffic and parking don’t behave like a normal beach day.

Thanksgiving Week

Thanksgiving Day falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026, per OPM’s federal holiday calendar. On Maui, that puts the final week of the month into a very different pricing and reservation tier than the rest of November. The Maui Invitational runs Monday through Wednesday, then the holiday lands Thursday, so the crunch starts before Thanksgiving itself.

The rule: if the plan includes a resort dinner, a luau, a sunset cruise, or a rental car, book earlier than you would for an ordinary shoulder-season week. If the schedule is flexible, early November delivers most of the same warm-water, lower-crowd benefits without the tournament-and-holiday pileup. For the broader holiday layer across the islands, check our Thanksgiving in Hawaiʻi guide.

How to Choose Your November Week

November on Maui isn’t one continuous festival stretch. It’s a set of very different weeks stacked back to back. Pick the one that matches the trip:

  • Best local shopping weekend: November 6–7 for the Made in Maui County Festival.
  • Best national-park planning date: November 11 for Veterans Day at Haleakalā, especially with summit plans already on the itinerary.
  • Best sports anchor: November 23–25 for the Maui Invitational.
  • Most constrained travel week: Thanksgiving week — tournament demand and holiday demand overlap.

A Word on Whales

Humpbacks winter in Hawaiian waters roughly November through May per NOAA’s Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, but peak season runs January through March. I wouldn’t build a November trip around guaranteed whale sightings. Treat any activity as a bonus and check our Hawaiʻi whale season tracker closer to travel. The safer November playbook: pick the week first, then reserve the scarce pieces early.
