The full 2026 Kona Coffee Cultural Festival schedule is now live, so this is the useful booking window for a November Big Island trip. The 55th festival runs November 6–15, 2026. It is not one fairground operating for ten straight days. The calendar moves among Kailua-Kona, Holualoa, Kealakekua, Captain Cook, and individual coffee farms.

Choose the part of the festival you actually want before booking the rest of the trip. Opening weekend is best for the lantern parade and Holualoa Coffee & Art Stroll. November 9–13 combines farm experiences with competing evening programs for coffee, food, music, and local history. Finale weekend stacks the half marathon, Hoʻolauleʻa, Grand Finale, orchestra concert, and cupping awards—but some of those events leave little room to move between venues. The official 2026 schedule should remain your final check before you pay for anything nonrefundable.

November 6–8: choose opening weekend if you want a public festival mix. Friday begins with the Made in Hawaiʻi Artisan Market from 2–9 p.m. at Hale Halawai County Pavilion. The lantern parade walks from Kailua Pier to Hale Halawai from 6–7 p.m., followed by the Multicultural Showcase from 7–9 p.m. at the pavilion. Those three events make Friday the easiest single day for a visitor who wants an evening in Kailua-Kona rather than a farm tour.

Saturday shifts uphill. The official schedule lists the Holualoa Coffee & Art Stroll for November 7 from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. in Historic Holualoa Village. The organizer recommends carpooling because parking is limited and says shuttles will run from Holualoa Elementary and the Imin Center. Sunday’s Kona Coffee Recipe Contest and Big Island Showcase opens the showcase at 10 a.m., opens the contest to the public at 11 a.m., and ends at 2 p.m. at Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa.

November 9–13: choose the middle for coffee farms and one evening lane. This is the clearest fit if the crop and the people producing it matter more to you than parades. Multiple farm experiences repeat on weekdays. Afterward, choose between hands-on coffee education, a ticketed meal, local storytelling, community music, or coffee competitions; several programs run at the same time.

November 14–15: choose the finale for one concentrated weekend. Saturday stacks the half marathon, Hoʻolauleʻa, and the evening Grand Finale at The Theatery. Sunday’s cupping awards end at 3 p.m., when Dvořák and Tchaikovsky with the Chamber Orchestra of Kona begins. The separate venues leave no reliable travel buffer. It is the fullest schedule, and the calendar requires choices rather than a checklist.

The middle of the festival is not one centralized fairground. It is a set of scheduled experiences spread across Kealakekua, Holualoa, Captain Cook, and Kailua-Kona. That is why a rental car and a short list beat trying to attend everything.

The Greenwell Farms Seed to Cup tour runs November 9–13 at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Kealakekua and is free with the festival button. The UCC Hawaii picking and farm experience also runs November 9–13, with one 10 a.m. tour daily in Holualoa, and is free with the button. UCC’s description specifically includes trying coffee-cherry picking and following the harvest into the cup.

Monday, November 9 demonstrates why the midweek choice matters. Barista training runs from 5–9 p.m. at Kona Coffee & Tea in Kailua-Kona, while the five-course coffee-flavored supper club runs from 5:30–8:30 p.m. at The Theatery in Kealakekua. Choose the training if technique is the point; choose supper if the meal is the point. The timing and distance make doing both unrealistic.

On November 10, Old Time Kona Stories, Volume 1 brings readings from a 1998 essay collection to Aloha Theatre in a radio-style community performance. The festival homepage says doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m., while the event-page header and schedule reverse that wording. Treat the homepage sequence as the apparent intent, but confirm the time with the organizer before building dinner or a long drive around it.

November 11 and 12 each split into two lanes. Wednesday pairs the 5–9 p.m. Nani Keao Mele Mele Concert & Okonomiyaki at Kona Hongwanji with the 5–7 p.m. Kona Espresso Martini & Coffee Cocktail Competition in Kealakekua. Thursday pairs a 6–9 p.m. latte-art throwdown in Kailua-Kona with Chamber Music Night from 7–9 p.m. at Mokuaikaua Church. Choose the event you care about instead of trying to cross between them.

The current schedule also lists weekday tastings and tours at Buddha’s Cup, Hala Tree Coffee, and Doutor Coffee’s Mauka Meadows, plus the Kona Coffee Quilt & Fiber Arts Show from November 9–15. Check each event page on the festival calendar before driving out; times, capacity, and any separate booking step belong to the individual listing.

Our planning rule is one farm experience per day, followed by no more than one fixed evening event. Pair the farm with a stop from our Big Island coffee farm guide only if the locations line up. A long drive between two farms is a poor trade when the festival already gives you several ways to see the seed-to-cup process.

The festival lists a $10 admission button as the entry credential for ten days of family-friendly events and special rates on some ticketed experiences. It can be purchased at festival events and at the retail locations listed by the organizer.

Do not read the button as an all-inclusive pass. Greenwell and UCC list their festival-week experiences as free with the button, and the November 14 Hoʻolauleʻa requires the button. Other events add a separate charge. The November 10 theater listing requires its own admission plus a festival button for attendees age 12 and older. The organizer's current schedule lists the Grand Finale for November 14 from 6–9 p.m. at The Theatery, but it does not provide a separate Grand Finale booking link. Check the schedule before relying on an old price or capacity.

Buy the button once you arrive unless an event’s own page directs you to complete another reservation first. For capped or separately ticketed events, the individual event page—not the general button description—controls.

November 14 is the one day when the schedule can become too much. The half marathon starts at 6 a.m. and the 5K at 6:15 a.m. from Coconut Grove Marketplace. The Hoʻolauleʻa runs from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. at Makaeʻo County Pavilion, with coffee farmers, food, entertainment, exhibits, demonstrations, a lei contest, and the festival’s largest artisan marketplace. The Grand Finale follows from 6–9 p.m. at The Theatery in Kealakekua.

Runners can combine the race and Hoʻolauleʻa if they are comfortable with a long day. Non-runners should skip the dawn start and make Hoʻolauleʻa the daytime anchor. Add the Grand Finale only if the evening event is the reason you chose this weekend and the organizer posts a current booking path.

Sunday, November 15 still requires a choice. The cupping competition awards run from 1–3 p.m. at Buddhas Cup Sanctuary Event Space. Dvořák and Tchaikovsky with the Chamber Orchestra of Kona opens its doors at 2:30 p.m. for a 3–5 p.m. program at Kona Elks Lodge. The awards end when the concert starts, and the venues are separate. Do not plan them as a clean pairing. Choose the awards if coffee results are the point of the trip; choose the concert if you want a seated cultural close.

Use the event locations to choose a base. Kailua-Kona or nearby Keauhou is the practical choice for the opening-night events, the recipe contest, the half marathon, and Hoʻolauleʻa. Holualoa, Kealakekua, or Captain Cook puts you closer to many of the weekday farm experiences. The venues are distributed enough that we would reserve a car even if the hotel is walkable to Aliʻi Drive.
