Open the confirmation for your exact property. Do not rely on a chain’s general reputation or a policy from another resort with the same logo. Send the hotel or host these five questions:

1. What is the property's posted check-in time?
2. Can registered guests leave luggage before the room is ready?
3. Where is the bag desk, and when does it close?
4. Can arriving guests use a restroom, changing area, pool, beach gear, or other amenities before receiving a room key?
5. How will the property tell you that the room is ready?

Early check-in is a request, not a first-day foundation. The exact property owns the answer, so plan around its posted check-in time and treat anything earlier as a welcome surprise.

Go to the property first, even if the room is several hours away. Ask the bell desk or front desk to take the luggage and give you a claim ticket. Keep passports, medication, keys, wallets, cameras, and other irreplaceable items with you unless the property offers a secure option that you are comfortable using.

If the property cannot secure the bags, shrink the plan. Keep the group and luggage together at a staffed indoor stop or go directly to a place that confirms it will accept them. About two to three hours: choose one reversible stop near the hotel. Lunch, a shaded walk, a museum, or a brief beach walk can work if the luggage is secure. Longer than three hours: do not reward the extra time with a cross-island drive. Travel fatigue, traffic, parking, and a room notification can turn a clever detour into two more hours in the car. A lockbox code is not a bell desk. Ask the host or manager whether the unit has staffed luggage storage, whether an earlier entry is possible, and when the access code becomes active. Get the answer in the booking platform or email so everyone is working from the same instruction.

If the answer is no, respect the posted entry time. Cleaning crews need the empty unit, and leaving bags on a lanai, in a hallway, or beside a locked door is not secure storage. 6. Pick one nearby plan that can end immediately.

7. Check current conditions before any beach or outdoor stop.
